Dr. Pasko Rakic, the Dorys McConnell Duberg Professor of Neurobiology, was elected to membership of the Academia Europaea “in recognition of his international scholarship and sustained contribution to European research.”
The Academia Europaea is an association comprised of scientists and scholars who collectively aim to promote learning, education, and research. Founded in 1988, its 3,000 members include leading experts from the physical sciences and technology, biological sciences and medicine, mathematics, the letters and humanities, social and cognitive sciences, economics, and the law.
Rakic, who is also chair of the Department of Neurobiology and director of the Kavli Institute for Neuroscience at Yale, focuses his research on the cellular events and molecular mechanisms that govern development of the mammalian central nervous system.
